Her most famous work, The Tales of Genji, is widely considered the first novel in the entire world. In it, the purple berried bush that inspires this ink becomes a focal point of the two lovers, and subsequently became known as the Murasaki Shikibu flower.

The name Iroshizuku a combination of the Japanese words Iro (Coloring), expressing high standards and variation of colors, and Shizuku (Droplet),that embodies the very image of dripping water.
